The concrete receipt template, with its line items listed

What’s on a concrete receipt

Every line is one part of the concrete job, listed on its own so the client can see exactly what their payment covered.

Line itemUnitWhy it’s its own line
Saw-cut and demolish existing concrete slabper sq ftBreaking out old concrete is heavy work with its own disposal cost, priced by area.
Concrete debris haul-out and jobsite cleanupper sq ftBroken concrete is heavy to haul. Listing it explains a cost clients don’t expect.
Excavate and grade subgrade for flatworkper sq ftGrading depends on the site, not on the slab, so it’s priced on its own.
Compacted gravel base courseper sq ftThe base under the slab is hidden once it’s poured. A line shows it’s there.
Slab edge formwork with 2x4 lumberper linear ftForms are measured around the edge in linear feet.
Rebar grid reinforcement for slabper sq ftReinforcement is a choice the client can see on paper but not once it’s poured.
Place and screed 4 in concrete slabper sq ftPlacing concrete is priced by area at a set thickness; a thicker slab is a different price.
Broom finish and cure concrete flatworkper sq ftThe finish is its own step, and decorative finishes cost more than broom.
Saw-cut control joints in slabper linear ftControl joints guide where the slab cracks, measured by the foot.
Apply penetrating concrete sealerper sq ftSealing is optional and often done later. Its own line keeps it a choice.
How to fill it in

Your concrete receipt in four steps

  1. 1

    Add your details

Put in your business name, phone, email and license number once, and save the file as your master copy.

  2. 2

    Name what it pays

Write the number of the invoice or quote the payment is for, and whether it’s a deposit, a progress payment or the final payment.

  3. 3

    List what it covers

Keep the lines the payment covers, with the quantities in square feet and linear feet and the prices from the invoice, and delete the rest.

  4. 4

    Record the payment

Fill in the date paid, how the client paid with the check number or reference, and any balance still owed. Save it as a PDF and send it.

How concrete jobs get paid

Concrete work is often paid in two parts: a deposit when the quote is signed, which covers the ready-mix order and holds the pour date, and the balance once the slab is poured and finished. Write a receipt for each and say which part of the job it covers.

On larger jobs with demolition or footings, a progress payment after the forms and reinforcement are in, and inspected where your area requires it, gets its own receipt naming that stage. If extra base or a thicker slab was added by change order, the receipt for that payment should name the change it pays for.

Put the pour date on the final receipt, along with the slab area, thickness and finish. The pour date is what your workmanship warranty runs from, and it tells the client when the slab is ready to seal. Many homeowners keep these receipts with the house records, where they help answer questions from a buyer or an insurer later.

Concrete receipt template FAQ

01Is this concrete receipt template free?
Yes. Download the PDF, Word or Excel file and use it for as many jobs as you like. There’s no sign-up.
02How do I show a deposit or a partial payment?
Keep the lines the payment covers and write the amount received as the total paid. Under Payment details, say it’s a deposit or a progress payment and write the balance still owed. In the Excel version, the amounts, the tax and the total paid calculate themselves.
03Can BuildWell send receipts for me?
Yes, with a subscription. Record each payment on the invoice with the amount, the method and a note, and partial payments add up; card and bank payments through Stripe are recorded for you. When the invoice is paid in full, Share receipt writes a message you can text or email, and the invoice can print with a paid stamp. It costs $7.99 a week or $79.99 a year after a 3-day free trial.
04What should a concrete receipt include?
Your business name, the date paid, who paid and how, with a check number or reference, the amount and what it covered. On the final receipt, add the pour date, the slab area, thickness and finish, and any balance still owed, so the client has the details of the slab in one place.
05How do I write a receipt for the deposit that pays for the concrete?
Name the quote it pays, write the amount received and say it’s a deposit for materials and scheduling. Note the pour date it holds. Put the balance due on completion under Payment details, then write a new receipt when the slab is finished and paid.
06What if the client holds back part of the balance over a crack?
Write the receipt for exactly what you received and record the amount still owed under Payment details. Point back to the term on hairline cracks and the control joints in the quote. A clear record of what was paid and what wasn’t makes the conversation easier to settle.
