How siding jobs are billed

Siding jobs commonly take a deposit at signing to order material, especially colored or special-order products, and the balance on completion. Large jobs often add a progress payment after tear-off and house wrap.

Sheathing beyond the allowance is the usual change. Bill the extra square feet as their own line at the price from your estimate, and send photos of the damage if you took them.

List the product, profile and color installed on the final invoice. The client will need it to match a damaged panel years from now, and some manufacturers ask for proof of installation to register a warranty. If leftover panels stay with the client for repairs, say so on the invoice.

Siding invoice template FAQ

01Is this siding invoice template free?
Yes. Download the PDF, Word or Excel file and use it for as many jobs as you like. There’s no sign-up.
02Can I bill a deposit with this template?
Yes. Bill the deposit as its own invoice, then record it under Amount paid on the final invoice. In the Excel version, the balance due subtracts it for you.
03Can clients pay the invoice online?
Not from the template: it’s a file you send. In BuildWell, every invoice goes out as a link your client can pay by card or US bank transfer through Stripe once you connect it, with no BuildWell fee on top, or with the Zelle, Venmo or check details you list.
04Should siding be quoted per square or per square foot?
Either. A square is 100 square feet, and the template uses square feet so you can price partial walls. Multiply squares by 100 to fill it in.
05Why is trim a separate line from the siding?
Trim, corners and J-channel are measured in linear feet and depend on how many windows, doors and corners the house has. Two houses with the same wall area can need very different amounts.
06How do I price rotten sheathing I can’t see yet?
As an allowance: a set number of square feet included and a price per square foot beyond it, both in the terms. The template has a term for each.
