How to fill it in

Your siding quote in four steps

  1. 1

    Add your details

Put in your business name, phone, email and license number once, and save the file as your master copy.

  2. 2

    Measure the job

Measure each wall in square feet and subtract large openings, then measure starter, corners, J-channel, fascia and trim in linear feet.

  3. 3

Fix a price for each line

Enter a quantity and a fixed price on each line the job needs, in square feet and linear feet. Delete the lines you don’t need, and write what the price assumes in the terms.

  4. 4

    Send it for acceptance

Fill in the blanks in the terms, save it as a PDF and send it. The client signs the acceptance line, and the price holds for the work listed.

How siding jobs are quoted

A fixed siding quote suits a full re-side or a single elevation where you’ve measured every wall, counted the openings and settled the product with the client. Once the profile and color are picked and the sheathing allowance is written in, the client can compare one total against another bid and sign.

The walls behind the old siding are the risk. You won’t know the condition of the sheathing until tear-off, so the quote needs an allowance with the square feet included and the price beyond it. Say what else the price assumes about the house: whether gutters, downspouts, shutters, light fixtures and hose bibs come off and go back, and who handles the utility meter. Each is a small job, and together they decide whether the price holds.

Small repairs are harder to fix-price than full jobs. Matching a few damaged panels on an older house depends on finding the same profile and color, which may no longer be made. Quote the repair on the condition that the client approves the match before you order, or send an estimate instead. For special-order colors, keep the valid period short and order only after the deposit is received.

Siding quote template FAQ

01Is this siding quote template free?
Yes. Download the PDF, Word or Excel file and use it for as many jobs as you like. There’s no sign-up.
02How is this siding quote different from the estimate template?
Both list the same siding line items. The quote’s terms make the price fixed for the work listed and put anything else outside it, while the estimate’s terms leave room for the final price to change. Use the quote when you can see the whole job and stand behind one number.
03Can BuildWell send a quote for me?
Yes, with a subscription. Describe the job and BuildWell prices it line by line from stores near the job and your metro’s labor rates, and you can title the document Quote instead of Estimate. Your client opens it as a link, then signs and accepts it on their phone. It costs $7.99 a week or $79.99 a year after a 3-day free trial.
04Can I give a fixed price on siding before tear-off?
Yes, with an allowance for sheathing repair. State how many square feet are included and the price for each square foot beyond it. The client knows the most they’ll pay if the walls are sound and how the price changes if they aren’t, and you aren’t carrying the rot.
05Should a siding quote cover the gutters and fixtures on the walls?
It should say. Removing and resetting gutters, downspouts, lights, shutters and hose bibs takes time and sometimes new parts. List the ones you’ll handle, and note anything the client or another trade is responsible for, such as the utility meter, so nothing is left hanging when the new siding goes on.
06Can I quote a siding repair that has to match the old panels?
Only once you know a match exists. Older profiles and colors may be discontinued, and a close match can still look different on the wall. Quote the repair on the condition that the client approves the sample, or offer to re-side the whole elevation for an even look.
