BuildWell publishes this page, so there’s no ranking. Invoice Fly, the app most like BuildWell, is listed first where it appears, the rest follow alphabetically, and BuildWell comes last.

Why look beyond Invoice Fly
Invoice Fly is a phone-first estimate and invoice app with a web app, which its pricing page lists at $8.99 a week or $98.99 a year, with the same features on both plans. You price estimates from your own item list, clients e-sign from a link, and payments run through your own Stripe or PayPal account. It adds follow-ups and overdue reminders, recurring invoices, time tracking, expenses and reports. [1][2][3][4][5][6]
It suits a contractor who knows their prices. You might look elsewhere if you want estimates priced from local cost data, a free plan, or card payments taken in person: Invoice Fly’s pricing page lists weekly and yearly plans, and its help center says it supports online payments only at this time. [1][7]
The alternatives
Contractor+
Good fit for: Contractors who want to start free and grow into CRM, scheduling and project management
Price: Free plan; Pro $49 a month, or $29 a month on the annual plan
A contractor business platform with a free plan of up to 5 estimates or invoices a month. From Pro, Estimatic AI drafts estimates from a description, photos, blueprints or another quote, priced from your cost book, supplier prices and a labor-rate index, using AI credits. Contracts and e-signatures also start on Pro. [8][9][10][11]
Compared with Invoice Fly: Where Invoice Fly is one plan with every feature, Contractor+ starts free, capped at 5 estimates or invoices a month, and adds AI estimating, contracts, e-signatures and scheduling on paid plans from $49 a month billed monthly. Its AI can price from supplier prices and a labor-rate index; Invoice Fly’s estimates page describes pricing from your own items and markups. [8][10][1][12]
Invoice Simple
Good fit for: Solo operators and small businesses who price their own work and send a handful of invoices a month
Price: From $6.99 a month (up to 3 invoices); unlimited at $21.99; 14-day trial of Premium
An invoicing and estimating app on iOS, Android and web, with plans set by how many invoices you send. Estimates convert to invoices; client signatures and deposits are on Premium. It takes cards, ACH, PayPal, Venmo and Stripe Tap to Pay; US Stripe card fees are 3.49% + 49¢. Bookkeeping and an AI Receptionist are paid add-ons in the US and Canada. [13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20]
Compared with Invoice Fly: Both price from your saved items on phone and web. Invoice Simple is sold by the month and by invoice volume, from $6.99 for 3 invoices, and keeps client signatures and deposits for Premium at $21.99; Invoice Fly includes every feature on its weekly or yearly plan. [13][21][1]
Joist
Good fit for: Small home-service contractors who want low-cost estimates and invoices with room to grow
Price: From $10 a month billed monthly; 14-day free trial
An estimate and invoice app on iOS, Android and web. AI Estimate drafts an estimate from a typed or spoken description for you to review, and e-signatures are on every plan. Upper plans add reports, change orders and job scheduling, and it syncs with QuickBooks. Card payments are 3.49% + 49¢ in the US. [22][23][24][25]
Compared with Invoice Fly: Joist’s AI Estimate drafts an estimate from a typed or spoken description, its pricing page lists QuickBooks sync from Pro, and its upper plans add change orders, reports and job scheduling, across four monthly plans from $10. Joist lists a US card rate of 3.49% + 49¢; with Invoice Fly, card rates are set by your Stripe or PayPal account. [23][22][24][1]
QuickBooks Online
Good fit for: Businesses that want invoicing inside their accounting software
Price: Free plan (2 invoices a month, per the plan card); paid from $38 a month; 30-day free trial
Accounting software with estimates customers approve from the email, deposits you can request on an estimate, and progress invoicing on Plus and Advanced. Signatures are captured in its iOS and Android apps, which QuickBooks’ pricing page says aren’t currently available on the Free plan. Invoiced card payments are 2.99% and ACH is 1% with a $1 minimum. [26][27][28][29][30][31]
Compared with Invoice Fly: QuickBooks Online is accounting software first, with estimates and invoices inside your books, plus reports and bill pay. QuickBooks lists Simple Start at $38 a month for one user, before an introductory discount for the first three months. Invoice Fly is an estimate and invoice app with expense tracking and reports, at $8.99 a week or $98.99 a year. [26][1][6]
Square Invoices
Good fit for: Service businesses that start free and also take cards in person
Price: Free plan; Plus $49 and Premium $149 a month per location; 30-day trial of paid plans
Invoicing inside Square’s payments platform: estimates clients accept, plus e-signed contracts and deposits on every plan, with milestone payment schedules on Plus and Premium. Online card payments are 3.3% + 30¢ on Free and 2.9% + 30¢ on paid plans; ACH is 1% with a $1 minimum, capped at $10 on paid plans. [32][33][34][35]
Compared with Invoice Fly: Square Invoices has a free plan and takes cards in person by tap, dip or swipe. Contracts, deposits and recurring invoices come on every Square plan, and milestone payment schedules on Plus and Premium. [32][34][35]
BuildWell
Good fit for: Contractors who want each estimate priced from local store prices and wages, then signed and paid
Price: $7.99 a week or $79.99 a year; 3-day free trial
Describe a job by voice, text, photos or a floor plan; the AI picks the work and quantities, and prices come from stores near the job and BLS wages plus your overhead and markup. Clients sign on their phone, estimates become invoices with deposits and progress payments, and card or bank payments go through Stripe at cost. iPhone, Android and web; English or Spanish. Not a scheduling, CRM, time-tracking or accounting tool. [36][37][38][39][40][41]
Compared with Invoice Fly: The closest match in format: weekly or yearly pricing, a 3-day trial, phone and web, e-signatures and deposits. The main difference is where prices come from: BuildWell’s AI plans the work and prices it from stores near the job and local wages, while Invoice Fly’s estimates page describes pricing from your own items and markups. BuildWell has no time or expense tracking. [36][37][38][39][1][12]
How to choose
Start with how you price work. If you have a price list you trust, Invoice Fly, Invoice Simple, Joist and Square all build estimates from your own items. If you want the numbers drafted for you, Contractor+ prices AI estimates from supplier and labor-rate data on its paid plans, and BuildWell prices every line from stores near the job and local wages. [2][21][42][43][10][37]
Then look at how you get paid and what else you need. Square and QuickBooks Online have free plans, and both list in-person card payments; QuickBooks is also your accounting. Joist and Contractor+ grow into scheduling and team tools. Invoice Fly and BuildWell keep to one plan with everything, sold by the week or the year. [32][26][31][22][8][1][36]
