Contractor+ alternatives
Six other apps contractors use to estimate, invoice and get paid, what each costs, and how each differs from Contractor+.

At a glance
We looked at apps contractors use to estimate, invoice and get paid instead of Contractor+, using only what each company states on its own site, checked on October 4, 2026; where a price or feature couldn’t be confirmed there, we left it out. BuildWell publishes this page, so there’s no ranking. Invoice Fly, the app most like BuildWell, is listed first where it appears, the rest follow alphabetically, and BuildWell comes last.

Why look beyond Contractor+
Contractor+ is a business platform for build and service contractors, on the web, phones and tablets. Its free Freedom plan allows up to five estimates or invoices a month; Pro is $49 a month, or $29 a month on the annual plan, and Pro Team and Max add users and team tools. Paid plans bring Estimatic AI, which prices estimates from your cost book, supplier prices and a labor-rate index, along with contracts, e-signatures, scheduling and its own card and ACH processing. [1][2][3][4]
It suits a contractor who wants CRM, scheduling, project tools and payments in one system and plans to grow into a team. You might look elsewhere if you need more than five estimates or invoices a month without a paid plan, want client e-signatures without upgrading (they start on Pro), or would rather not track AI credits: Pro comes with a one-time $20 trial credit. Its FAQ also says all sales are final. [1][2]
The alternatives
Invoice Fly
Good fit for: Contractors and freelancers who set their own prices and want simple estimates and invoices plus time and expense tracking
Price: $8.99 a week or $98.99 a year; 3-day free trial
A phone-first estimate and invoice app with a web app. Estimates come from your saved items and markups, clients e-sign from a link, and estimates convert to invoices. Its e-signature page says its AI can generate an estimate. Payments run through your own Stripe or PayPal account. It adds automatic follow-ups and overdue reminders, recurring invoices, time tracking, an expense tracker with receipt scanning and reports. [5][6][7][8][9][10][11]
Compared with Contractor+: Invoice Fly is one plan at $8.99 a week or $98.99 a year with every feature, after a 3-day trial, and prices estimates from your own item list. Contractor+ starts free and puts AI estimating, e-signatures and scheduling on its paid plans, from Pro at $49 a month, or $29 a month on the annual plan. [5][6][7][1]
Handoff
Good fit for: Residential builders and remodelers with a team who want AI estimating inside a project platform
Price: From $119 a month billed annually (2 users); 7-day free trial
Builds residential estimates with AI from a typed or spoken scope, photos or plans, priced from supplier catalogs and localized labor rates, then proposals, e-signatures, milestone invoices and payments, with two-way QuickBooks Online sync on every plan. Pro adds project management, time tracking and unlimited AI credits; Scale adds AI takeoffs. [12][13][14][15]
Compared with Contractor+: Handoff also drafts estimates with AI from supplier catalogs and localized labor rates, but it’s built for residential builders and remodelers: Flex is $119 a month billed annually, after a 7-day trial. It syncs both ways with QuickBooks Online on every plan, and its scheduling, project management and time tracking come on Pro and Scale. [14][13][12][15]
Housecall Pro
Good fit for: Home-service companies that book, schedule and dispatch techs
Price: From $79 a month billed monthly, or $59 a month billed annually; 14-day free trial
Field service software with online booking, scheduling and dispatch on every plan, and estimates priced from a price book that can start from Profit Rhino’s ready-made one. Customers approve and e-sign estimates from their phone or email, with optional deposits and progress invoicing. Online invoice payments are 2.99% and bank payments 1%. [16][17][18][19][20][21]
Compared with Contractor+: Housecall Pro is built around booking, scheduling and dispatch, which come on every plan, from $79 a month billed monthly or $59 billed annually, after a 14-day trial. Estimates are priced from a price book you import or start from a ready-made one, where Contractor+’s Estimatic AI draws on supplier prices and a labor-rate index. [16][22][17][3]
Jobber
Good fit for: Home-service businesses running crews and recurring work
Price: From $49 a month with no commitment, less on a one-year commitment or billed annually; 14-day free trial
Field service software for scheduling, quotes, invoices and payments, with QuickBooks Online and Xero sync on Connect and higher plans. Clients approve quotes in a client hub, can draw or type a signature and pay a deposit as they approve. Progress invoicing is on every plan. Card payments are 2.9% + 30¢ and ACH is 1%. [23][24][25][26]
Compared with Contractor+: Jobber is field service software for home-service businesses, from $49 a month with no commitment after a 14-day trial. Quotes are priced from your products and services list, and you can search a national home-improvement retailer’s catalog inside the quote. It syncs with QuickBooks Online and Xero from its Connect plan, and its pricing page lists cards at 2.9% + 30¢; Contractor+ lists 3.0% on Pro. [24][23][27][28][1]
Joist
Good fit for: Small home-service contractors who want low-cost estimates and invoices with room to grow
Price: From $10 a month billed monthly; 14-day free trial
An estimate and invoice app on iOS, Android and web. AI Estimate drafts an estimate from a typed or spoken description for you to review, and e-signatures are on every plan. Upper plans add reports, change orders and job scheduling, and it syncs with QuickBooks. Card payments are 3.49% + 49¢ in the US. [29][30][31][32]
Compared with Contractor+: Joist is a lighter estimate and invoice app, with four monthly plans from $10 and client e-signatures on every plan, where Contractor+ starts them on Pro. Its AI Estimate drafts from a typed or spoken description for you to review, with prices from what you enter, saved items and markups. Job scheduling is on its Run plan, and QuickBooks sync starts on Pro. [29][33][30][34][32][1]
BuildWell
Good fit for: Contractors who want each estimate priced from local store prices and wages, then signed and paid
Price: $7.99 a week or $79.99 a year; 3-day free trial
Describe a job by voice, text, photos or a floor plan; the AI picks the work and quantities, and prices come from stores near the job and BLS wages plus your overhead and markup. Clients sign on their phone, estimates become invoices with deposits and progress payments, and card or bank payments go through Stripe at cost. iPhone, Android and web; English or Spanish. Not a scheduling, CRM, time-tracking or accounting tool. [35][36][37][38][39][40]
Compared with Contractor+: BuildWell also prices estimates from store and wage data, but its AI only plans the work and quantities: materials are priced at stores near the job and labor at the local BLS median wage. It’s one plan at $7.99 a week or $79.99 a year after a 3-day trial, with no free plan, and it doesn’t do the CRM, scheduling, time tracking or QuickBooks sync that Contractor+ offers. [36][35][1]
How to choose
Start with where you want prices to come from. Handoff and BuildWell, like Contractor+, draft estimates with AI from outside data: Handoff from supplier catalogs and localized labor rates, BuildWell from stores near the job and local BLS wages. Invoice Fly and Joist build estimates from prices you enter, with Joist’s AI drafting from your description, and Housecall Pro and Jobber price from your own price book or products list. [3][13][12][36][7][34][30][22][27]
Then decide how much of the business you want in one app. Housecall Pro and Jobber center on booking, scheduling and dispatch for crews, and Handoff on residential projects run by a team. Joist grows into job scheduling on its top plan. Invoice Fly and BuildWell stay with estimates, invoices and payments on one plan sold by the week or the year. [16][24][23][14][12][29][5][6][35]
